Starting school is a very special milestone in your child's life. Accordingly, anticipation and excitement grow as the first day of school approaches. New tasks also await you as a parent or grandparent, for example, choosing a suitable schoolbag for your child. But when is actually the best time to buy the schoolbag? 

Take Your Time Deciding

Under no circumstances should you make the mistake in the family of wanting to buy the schoolbag just a few days before starting school. Then you won't have the peace to try it out, and perhaps the desired model will no longer be available.

It's better to plan the schoolbag purchase for the spring or early summer before starting school. This gives you enough time to compare different models and calmly see which schoolbag fits the child optimally. Your child will probably focus primarily on the design. However, the fit and carrying comfort are much more important, as they determine health and daily satisfaction on the way to school. So, take your time not only to look at different models with your child but also to try them on extensively.

By the way, it's not a good idea to surprise future schoolchildren with a schoolbag at Easter. Experienced advisors know that schoolbags should definitely be tested with the child.

Don't Buy the Schoolbag Too Early

It may seem attractive to buy the schoolbag long before starting school. Perhaps because you happen to discover a great model. Or because a price is temptingly low.

However, preschool children grow rapidly, especially when they have a growth spurt. Then you have bought a schoolbag based on physical conditions that no longer exist at all for the first grader on the day of enrollment. You may now be annoyed about a schoolbag that is too small, even though a larger model would have been just right a few months later.

So, it's better to wait until about 6 months before school starts to try on the new schoolbag. Then it also can't happen that the schoolbag is waiting unused in the closet while the warranty period is already expiring. And then on the first day of school, you discover a problem that is unfortunately no longer covered by the already expired warranty.

Don't Buy a Schoolbag for Growth

When buying a schoolbag too early, it is often accepted that the schoolbag does not yet fit optimally or that the carrying system cannot be ideally adjusted. "The child will grow into it" is the hope then. But this can also go wrong, and then a poorly fitting schoolbag is annoying for many school years.

It is better to buy a schoolbag shortly before starting school that fits perfectly immediately. This is the only way to reliably avoid poor posture and back pain.

Is the Accessory Still Available?

Often, the desire for further accessories in the design of the schoolbag only arises later at school. For example, with a color-matching pencil case, a sports bag, or a water bottle.

With an older series that was bought in advance, there is a high probability that individual accessories are no longer available. This also applies to discontinued models or previous year's models.
